BERLIN, February 11, 2020 – Two of the greatest coaches in the history of football, Fabio Capelloand Arsene Wenger, will be present in Berlin later this month for the 20^th anniversary Laureus World Sports Awards.

They will be joined by three giants of the women’s game – Jill Ellis, former coach of the US team which won the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019, Nia Künzer, scorer of the golden goal which won the 2003 World Cup for Germany, and current Sweden and CD Tacon star Kosovare Asllani. Plus German goalkeeping stars Jens Lehmann and Roman Weidenfeller.

The 20^th anniversary Laureus Awards will honour the greatest sporting triumphs of 2019, as well as celebrating two decades of the Laureus movement and the power of sport in transforming the lives of millions of young people around the world. The theme for this landmark event is ‘Sport Unites Us’.

Amongst a Who’s Who of the greatest names in sport are Eliud Kipchoge, who smashed the two-hour barrier for the marathon, Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, British gold medal winning heptathlete Jessica Ennis-Hill and Russian pole-vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva.

Siya Kolisi, captain of the Rugby World Cup winning Springboks and team-mate Faf de Klerk, will be present along with surfers Maya Gabeira and Italo Ferreira.

There is a strong turn-out of German sports starts including basketball great Dirk Nowitzki, boxing hero Axel Schulz, footballer Fredi Bobic and Olympic gold medal triathlete Jan Frodeno.

They are joined by members of the Laureus World Sports Academy. So far confirmed to attend are:
